LIBRARY ELF

Great site. I have created an account; it was quick and easy to do. I am definitely going to recommend this to our patrons. We have quite a few with issues on remembering due dates, I hope they will make use of this service.

task #14

PODCASTS
Ok, I CHECKED OUT OPAL PODCASTS FOR LIBRARIES.
GREAT PODCAST ON RURAL/SMALL LIBRARIES. SOUND COULD BE A LITTLE BETTER BUT CONTENT IS GREAT, JUST TURN UP VOLUME. WORKING IN LITTLE CLOVER IS WHAT MADE ME WANT TO CHECK OUT A SEMINAR ON THIS CONCEPT.
Podcasts are a wonderful concept. Should you add them to the library? Not unless there were a lot more computers in use. Most podcasts are over 1 hour in length thus surpassing the time aloted for computer usage.

Task #13

Wow cool web tools on SEOmoz's list.

I had no idea there was a web tool out there that would allow you to publish your own literary works. I found this tool on:

http://www.Lulu.com

It looks great, of course I haven't used it yet; haven't finished that book yet.

This is a wonderful tool for anyone who is an aspiring author.

Task #12

I created a PB wiki, as easy as making a peanut butter sandwich!

Which is better wiki or blog, depends on what you are using it for. I like PB wiki because you can sort your info, blogs are date sorted only which can be confusing. Wikis are great except when using for concrete info like wikipedia it can be misleading because people change infor in wikipedia and you can't always be sure the info is correct (can't believe everything you read on the internet!)

Now for some more misleading info: check out my wiki (jk)

task #11 here we go!

Hey, I just checked out Netlibrary again. I have had to go here in the past to help patrons create and account becuase apparantly they can't create the account at home. So I did make my own account, very easy to do by the way.

Ok, I found some titles that I will download. They are:

Titles that we don't have in paper at the library:

Bound to Rise
An Old Town by the Sea

On my wishlist is If I am Missing or Dead by Janine Latus

Google Base posting

In completion of task #10, here is a link to a posting I made for the clover library:

http://base.google.com/base/a/1616933/D14258048548204557403

I searched google base for a long time and found most items on it are items for purchase, yes a classified ads site. It was ok, I imagine it is used like a craig's list. I didn't see a whole lot of use for the library. There was the occasional book review site and there were some links to literature on children's activities that may be used for ideas for childrens programming at the library.

Also, here are some library related content I found on Google Base:

Bernard ShawÕs Book Reviews Product type: books Price: £12.00 Binding: unknown Pages: 177,252 Edition: 0 ... Pennsylvania State University Press 1991, lst edition, Med 8vo, 511pp, fine in dw. These uncollected book reviws comprise ShawÕs first journalistic efforts.http://www.biblio.com - from Biblio.com Books on Apr 16 -

#9 on 2.oh list Del.icio.us

OK, just finished looking at the Del.icio.us website for managing bookmarks. It was fun and easy to use. Enjoyed using it. I will definitely make use of it becuase it allows me to catalog my favorite websites by subject matter, alphabetically, popularity, etc.

Here is the link to my personal bookmark:

LibraryThing | Catalog your books online

LibraryThing Catalog your books online

Above is my librarything catalog check it out!

Is this useful for patrons at our library? Definitely!! Don't know how many times people have asked to check and see what they have read. This application would definitely come in handy for those people that read often. Only, most of the patrons that ask are older and don't use computers. But for some this could work, I know I will use it from now on.

ONLINE GENERATOR, HOW COOL IS THIS!

This is my daughter and her friend. I thought they would get a kick out of this.

This is a great website; I will use it often. check it out at:

www.generatorblog.blogspot.com

As a children's librarian I can think of a lot of uses for this website as far as fun crafts and promotion flyers; also having this knowledge I will use it to help patrons with projects on the computer.
