Task #18

OK,

This is my final post. I have officially completed the 2.oh exploration, and it has been a real fun experience. I have been a computer teacher off and on over the past 15 years from Kindergarten to adult night school. In spite of my extensive computer background, I actually learned a lot by touching on areas of the internet I have not explored, like Wikis and Rss feeds.

The part I like best was library elf. I think this is a great service and I have been making use of it ever since. I have even recommended it to several patrons that have started using it also!

I always knew that libraries have been moving closer to using technology in its services. This definitely confirms it for me and has broadened my horizons and has improved my services as a librarian.

Thanks for this great opportunity!

Task#17

OK, I created an AIM account. The library reference department does not have one so I was unable to send them a message.

Check it out at:

You need to jazz up that library myspace! You need pics of events and info about upcoming events. maybe a link to library elf?? just a suggestion.

LIBRARY ELF

Great site. I have created an account; it was quick and easy to do. I am definitely going to recommend this to our patrons. We have quite a few with issues on remembering due dates, I hope they will make use of this service.

task #14

PODCASTS
Ok, I CHECKED OUT OPAL PODCASTS FOR LIBRARIES.
GREAT PODCAST ON RURAL/SMALL LIBRARIES. SOUND COULD BE A LITTLE BETTER BUT CONTENT IS GREAT, JUST TURN UP VOLUME. WORKING IN LITTLE CLOVER IS WHAT MADE ME WANT TO CHECK OUT A SEMINAR ON THIS CONCEPT.
Podcasts are a wonderful concept. Should you add them to the library? Not unless there were a lot more computers in use. Most podcasts are over 1 hour in length thus surpassing the time aloted for computer usage.

Task #13

Wow cool web tools on SEOmoz's list.

I had no idea there was a web tool out there that would allow you to publish your own literary works. I found this tool on:

http://www.Lulu.com

It looks great, of course I haven't used it yet; haven't finished that book yet.

This is a wonderful tool for anyone who is an aspiring author.

Task #12

I created a PB wiki, as easy as making a peanut butter sandwich!

Which is better wiki or blog, depends on what you are using it for. I like PB wiki because you can sort your info, blogs are date sorted only which can be confusing. Wikis are great except when using for concrete info like wikipedia it can be misleading because people change infor in wikipedia and you can't always be sure the info is correct (can't believe everything you read on the internet!)

Now for some more misleading info: check out my wiki (jk)
